One of our recent transformations involved a 7,000 sq ft residential yard that required a full sod replacement, improved drainage, and seasonal clean-up. Here’s how we approached the job:
Scope of Work:
Site Prep and Cleanup:
We began by scalping and removing existing grasses, weeds, and debris from the yard. This process creates a clean slate and allows for proper grading and sod installation.Grading and Sod Installation:
We regraded the area to ensure proper water flow, then leveled and prepped the soil. After grinding down stumps in the sod zones, we installed 14 pallets of Bermuda sod, known for its durability and lush appearance.Drainage Solutions:
The property included a drainage ditch that required remediation. We shaped the ditch and installed rip-rap gravel (2-5") to improve water flow and reduce erosion—a vital component for protecting the new sod and landscape long-term.Tree Row and Pine Straw Bed:
To complete the transformation, we cleaned and prepped the privacy tree row and installed 30 bales of pine straw in the proposed planting bed. Pine straw helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, and provides a clean, natural aesthetic.
The Result:
The property now has a durable lawn with healthy sod, improved water management, and a refreshed landscape that’s both low-maintenance and visually appealing. By combining grading, erosion control, and thoughtful planting bed updates, we delivered a solution that will perform year-round.
